Creating a tapered thread can be difficult if you haven’t already considered the mathematical data required to input specific values. This is not necessary – a swept surface can be used to first create the twisted geometry that can then be used to project a curve which can be used to form the sweep profile. This method of creating a tapered sweep is useful not just for creating a thread and is a transferable workflow.

Start off by creating your desired tapered profile – this will be the body that is used to project the tapered entity. Create a horizontal entity that exceed the body you are projecting upon and a vertical line that does not exceed the whole length of the body, nor falls short.

Create a swept surface and use the surface to create an intersection curve. The intersection curve cant then be used as the swept profile.
