This video tutorial series will show you how to create a paddle within SolidWorks. Stuart one of our application engineers will guide you through the creation of this paddle for use in Paddle-boarding, one of his hobbies outside of Cadtek. This particular tutorial came about while trying to solve a real world issue he had creating a GoPro camera mount.
All of the topics shown in this series are essential skills to have for any user of 3D CAD. In part 1 you will be shown basic and advanced level Lofting to create the shaft & handle. Throughout the two part series he will be showing you how to;
- Apply Material
- Advance Lofting
- Using Splines and creating new points
- Working with surfaces
- Showing tangency with visual effects
- Creating a new part in an assembly
Tutorial 1: Basic Lofting – The Paddle Shaft
Use Lofts to create geometry which changes its cross sectional profile throughout its length.
Tutorial 2: Advanced Lofting – The Paddle Handle
Use advanced features of Lofting to create an ergonomic, organic shaped handle. Stuart will show you how to use guide curves to control the shape of the part.
